Hydrogen Fluoride (HF)
As a trusted Hydrogen Fluoride (HF) source for over 50 years, we continue to invest in technology that advances the safety and reliability of our HF acid.
As the world leader in hydrofluoric acid (HF) production and delivery, our customers know we understand the rigorous requirements for producing and handling HF with the quality and safety they demand. We take our safety responsibility very seriously – no other supplier can match the experience and support we provide throughout every phase of production and delivery, for every HF grade we offer.
As a trusted hydrofluoric acid (HF) source for over 50 years, we continue to invest in technology that advances the safety and reliability of our hydrofluoric acid (HF). Our challenge is to provide the safest working environment – protecting operators and the equipment – while simultaneously enabling you to improve throughput and productivity.
What is Hydrofluoric Acid?
Hydrofluoric acid (HF) also referred to as Fluohydric or Fluoric acid is a clear, colorless corrosive liquid that is extremely hazardous. Hydrofluoric Acid is a versatile chemical with diverse industrial applications, but its handling requires meticulous attention to safety due to its corrosive nature and potential health hazards.
Hydrofluoric Acid (HF) gets interlaced with hydrochloric acid - The primary difference between hydrofluoric and hydrochloric acid is its solubility in water. HCI is a strong acid while hydrofluoric or HF is a weak acid. It’s called a weak acid because it doesn’t fully detach or separate into its ions in water, but it’s still a very dangerous acid.
The primary difference between hydrofluoric acid (HF) and hydrochloric acid (HCl) lies in their chemical composition and properties:
- Chemical Composition
- Reactivity
- Corrosiveness
- Applications
- Health and Safety Concerns
How Hydrofluoric Acid (HF) is Typically Used
There are many applications that hydrofluoric acid can be used in, which include:
Hydrofluoric Acid (HF) is used in various industrial processes and applications due to its unique properties. Some common industrial uses of HF include:
- Petroleum Refining
- Chemical Manufacturing
- Metal Processing
