David Sewell

David Sewell serves as President and Chief Executive Officer for Solstice Advanced Materials. With more than 30 years of leadership experience across the materials and chemicals industry, he is recognized for driving large-scale transformation of global businesses and delivering sustained commercial performance.  

Prior to joining Solstice, David was President and CEO of WestRock Company, where he led a multi-year transformation strategy, delivering significant revenue, margin, and profit enhancements. Under his leadership, WestRock executed a landmark merger with Smurfit Kappa, creating a $35 billion global packaging leader. 

Before WestRock, David spent more than a decade at the Sherwin-Williams Company, culminating in his appointment as President and Chief Operating Officer in 2019. During his tenure, he played a central role in the company’s global growth and operational integration efforts. His career began at General Electric, where he held various leadership roles in the Plastics and Chemicals division, including General Manager of the Engineering Styrenics business. He is a certified Six Sigma Master Black Belt and was recognized as one of GE’s “Growth Trait Leaders.”  

David holds a bachelor’s degree in economics with a minor in political science from the University of Southern California. He serves on the Board of Trustees for the Cleveland Clinic and Cleveland Playhouse Square, and on the Board of Directors for Huntsman Chemical. He also previously served on the Board of the National Association of Manufacturers.
